Paths toward a flowering landscape - Opportunities for everybody to take action against biodiversity loss
Key Note Talk at the BIODIVERSITY Summer School 2023 of Hochschule Geisenheim University
Environmental scare news are plenty, the scientific basis is solid: climate change, microplastics, biodiversity loss. Few people are aware of science showing us potential solutions and even fewer know how close we actually are to solving a number of environmental issues. Putting all science and numbers aside we will see how real people make real changes everyday. While our climate is a rather inert system, biodiversity reacts promptly both to stressors as well as to opportunities. What if we stopped the destruction of habitats and created new ones instead? Species would inhabit these new spaces virtually instantly, making a real turnaround in biodiversity loss possible. The only question is: when will we start? When will you start?”
Speaker: Dr. Matthias Wucherer, director of Netzwerk Blühende Landschaft
